The Command Financial Specialist (CFS) initial training course is a three-day, 24-hour class that prepares unit representatives to function as the first line of defense through financial education, coaching, and information and referral at the unit level. This class provides basic tools, techniques, and information needed to build and maintain a supportive financial program within their units and to work together with Personal Financial Management Specialists (PFMs) to ensure financial readiness across service members and their families. Training is governed by OPNAVINST 1740.5B (Navy) and MCO 1700.37 (USMC).
