We’re recruiting volunteers for a three-day mass casualty exercise that will push hospital staff to their limits. Your support is what makes the exercise realistic and successful. There’s a role for almost everyone, with or without medical training.
How to sign up (two steps)
- Register in Volunteer Connection (one entry covers all three days): Volunteer Connection registration
- Then sign up for your specific role(s) using the links below.
Link-up locations for each group will be sent in a separate message. If you’re ever unsure during the exercise, head to the hospital galley in the basement, where someone can point you in the right direction. Signal groups will also be set up for communication.
Choose your role
Canteen volunteers (no experience needed)
Run one of two canteens each day: Canteen A serves hospital staff, and Canteen B serves patients and family. Both also help provide psychological first aid as needed.
Shifts are two hours long, from 5 AM to 10 PM each day
Sign up for as many shifts as you like
Casualty actors (no experience needed)
Play patients so staff can practice real response. Each day has its own signup. In the comment box, tell us the hours you’re available (for example, “26 Oct, 1400-1600”).
Medically credentialed volunteers (RNs, PAs, physicians, and others with a medical degree)
Augment hospital staff in the department where you’re needed most. Credentialing takes place in the galley, after which you’ll be matched with a department.
In the comment box, please list: the date and time you’ll credential, and the dates and times you’ll augment staff. This helps the hospital plan.
Red Cross affiliation is not required. Please share with qualified colleagues.
Medical certificate volunteers (phlebotomists, X-ray techs, CNAs, EMTs, PCTs, pharmacy techs, and others)
Put your certified skills to work supporting the exercise.
