The joy of welcoming a new life into the world is a momentous occasion that deserves to be celebrated! Earlier this week, the MCCS New Parent Support Program and Heidi Murkoff, from the What to Expect Project, hosted the Expecting: Red, White & Due! Baby Shower.

 

Ms. Murkoff, the best-selling author of the What to Expect book series, was on hand to share her wisdom with more than 70 new moms and soon-to-be moms, who also enjoyed lunch and baby shower games. Attendees received lots of goodies, including a signed copy of one of Ms. Murkoff's books and a diaper bag filled with baby gear. Other giveaways included car seats, strollers, gift cards, a highchair, breast pumps, and more!

 

This one-a-of-a-kind baby shower was very well received, and moms were lining up to register once it was announced. The turnout speaks to the enthusiasm our community has for celebrating their impending motherhood. Moms appreciated the opportunity to relax and unwind, meet a community of other mothers, and learn about free MCCS resources available.

 

One new mom shared a heartfelt message, saying, "I'm very excited about this event. I lost my mom at an early age and Heidi's book actually saved my life as I started motherhood. We absolutely love our New Parent Support home visitor Dawn. I go to their play groups, and I highly recommend Baby Boot Camp offered by the New Parent Support Program."
