Recognize the Value of Volunteers

Whether it’s a personal tie to a cause, a call to action, career exploration, skill-building, or the desire to connect to others and their community, Marines and their families contribute countless hours of service to various community partners both inside and outside the Marine Corps.
It’s because of these selfless acts that the Volunteer Management Program (VMP) is able to show appreciation through various recognition events across the enterprise during National Volunteer Month.
Marine Corps volunteers are eligible for the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). Since its inception in 2003, the PVSA has been an esteemed award that honors exceptional volunteers whose time and dedication make a difference in the community. To learn more about eligibility requirements for the PVSA and to get started volunteering with the VMP, please contact your local installation volunteer coordinator.
Service members also can earn the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Service members who make a significant impact through volunteering in the civilian and military community can earn this prestigious award. Service members can contact their G-1/S-1 unit administration office to ask questions and determine eligibility.
