Long Awaited MCAS New River Recreational Equipment Issue Now Open

The MCCS New River Recreational Equipment Issue (REIS) closed its doors in August of 2021 due to a lack of resources. As planning to reopen the facility began, a new location was considered. The New River Waterfront Community Center Complex presented itself as the ideal location. Home to the MCAS New River Marina, Waterfront Community Center, and now, Recreational Equipment Issue, this location has become an ideal spot for many recreational needs.

At the new location, units and families can not only rent inflatables, grills, party tents, etc., but can also request these items to be set up at the facility for a reasonable fee. There are four areas around the waterfront complex that can accommodate private or unit functions. Patrick Larkin, MCCS Services Division Director, said, "There are many opportunities at the complex for fun and excitement, including boat rentals, recreational equipment rentals, kayak and paddle board rentals, hosting events, and a weekday lunch buffet. We are excited to continue building on our vision to enshrine that space as the epicenter for fun at MCAS New River."

The new REIS doors were opened at the New River Marina Open House on June 10, 2023. Like their counterparts at MCB Camp Lejeune, the New River REIS offers many of the same quality inflatables, trailers, games, and more. MCCS is very happy to offer the New River Air Station community a nearby option for these recreational opportunities.
