Protecting Our Future

Every April, the nation comes together to recognize and prioritize the safety and well-being of our children. Child Abuse Prevention Month serves as a crucial reminder of our collective commitment to preventing child abuse and neglect, supporting abused children, and fostering awareness among parents and caregivers to nurture positive relationships.
The Power of Community Support
Child safety is a shared responsibility. By offering help or resources, we can ensure children grow up in safe environments. Research reveals that those who embrace positive and healthy lifestyles are better equipped to cope with life's stressors.
Family Advocacy Program (FAP) in the Military Community
Within the military community, FAP stands as a beacon of support. It equips families with tools and skills to manage stress, a major factor in preventing abuse. FAP offers non-medical counseling, parenting classes, stress management training, relationship education, and anger management classes—all aimed at mitigating the risks of abuse and neglect.
Embracing Support for Military Families
Several organizations are dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect through education and support. Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) provides programs tailored to military families' unique challenges. Child & Youth Programs helps with childcare and supporting exceptional family members. Marine Corps Family Team Building aids new military families in adjusting by informing them of available benefits and services. Many other programs are available to help military families overcome various obstacles.
This year, the Marine Corps supports the Department of Defense’s mission to keep military children safe year-round by encouraging positive parenting and creating supportive environments.
