Breaking Barriers Together: Resources for Marines & Families

No one has to face Domestic Violence alone. Leaving a Domestic Violence situation can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Many programs—on base and in the community—are here to support, guide, and walk with you toward safety and healing. Each plays a role in helping you and your family break free from barriers and build a stronger future.

Emergency Response/Assistance

The 24/7 Domestic Violence Helpline is available at (808) 216-7175—confidential support is just a call away.

Family Advocacy Program (FAP)

Offers education, support, and intervention services to help keep families safe and connected to care.

Base Legal

Assists with legal matters such as protective orders, custody, or understanding your rights.

Housing

Assists with emergency housing placement, housing transfers, and safe living arrangements when leaving a dangerous environment.

Police (PMO)

Ensures immediate safety, responds to incidents, enforces protective orders, and connects victims to helping agencies.

Sexual Assault Prevention & Response (SAPR)

Supports survivors of sexual assault, which can overlap with Domestic Violence situations, offering advocacy, reporting options, and care.

Counseling & Education

New Parent Support Program (NPSP)

Offers home visits, parenting classes, and emotional support to new or expecting parents, reducing stress and risk factors that can contribute to family violence.

Community Counseling Program (CCP) & Military & Family Life Counselors (MFLCs):

Offer confidential, short-term counseling and emotional support to individuals and families impacted by Domestic Violence.

Substance Assessment Counseling Center (SACC)

Provides counseling and treatment for those struggling with substance use, addressing issues that often contribute to family violence.

Provides opportunities for education, training, and skill development, empowering victims to become independent.

Family Member Employment Assistance Program (FMEAP)

Helps spouses find employment and gain financial independence, removing barriers that can keep someone trapped in an abusive relationship.

Information, Referral & Relocation Services (IR&R)

Connects victims to both on-base and off-base resources, ensuring seamless support during transitions or relocations.

Library

Offer safe, supportive spaces and programs that promote resilience, wellness, and positive outlets for stress management.

Personal Financial Management Program (PFMP)

Helps victims with budgeting, financial planning, and emergency resources, reducing financial barriers to leaving an unsafe situation.

Other Resources

Offers community-based support like food assistance, childcare programs, and family services to lighten daily burdens, reduce stressors and provide stability.

Provides counseling, housing support, and family assistance regardless of religious background, helping victims rebuild their lives.
